The diaries combine the happenings of Miriam’s daily life along with her narration of stories related to family, friends and even strangers as reported on scattered letters and school notebooks by Miriam herself, thus exposing the harsh truth of an era marked by injustice, pauperization, famine and death under the Ottoman rule
